What is D Book Design?

My name is Diogo, the D. behind D Book Design.

I’m a book designer and art director with over 15 years of experience in the publishing industry. After graduating in Design and Communication, I worked with design studios, publishers, and publishing companies including Penguin, Leya, Inkitt, and Hot Ghost Writer, among others.

Those years of experience eventually led me to create D Book Design, an independent design studio dedicated to helping authors and publishers turn manuscripts into professionally designed books.

​

D Book Design is intentionally a one-person studio. Every project is handled directly by me, from the initial brief and research to concept development, revisions, and final production. There are no templates and no projects passed between different designers. Each book is approached individually, with its own audience, genre, personality, and publishing goals in mind.

My core services are Book Cover Design and Interior Design & Formatting, for both print and digital publishing. I also provide complementary services including promotional and marketing design, social media assets, publishing materials, and creative support throughout the publishing process.

Over the years, I have worked on more than 3,500 books, ranging from independent releases to projects for established publishers.

​

The objective is simple: to give independent authors and small publishers access to the same level of thoughtful, professional design expected from major publishing houses.

Because a professionally published book should look professionally published, regardless of who publishes it.
